'Catch a Falling Star' Story Code '65413' by Paul Brown

21st May 1979: Sam becomes Ray Hutton, understudy for the role of Don Quixote in an off-Broadway production of Man of La Mancha. It seems that the show’s star, John O'Malley, is an egotistical drunkard whose career - and life - will be ruined when his drinking causes him to fall down a flight of stairs on stage. Sam must find a way to keep O’Malley sober – even if it means that he must go out on stage and perform instead. Things get even more complicated when the new understudy for the leading lady is revealed: Sam’s former piano teacher, who was his first teenage crush. Despite Al’s warnings, Sam now sees a chance to achieve some happiness of his own…
